Whose Money It Anyway?
Psalm 24:1-2
I. A foundational teaching
a. The best time to talk about money is when you don’t need it...
b. Don’t mess with people about money...
c. A foundational teaching.
d. We are not completely saved until our wallet or our purse is saved.
e. A critical question: who owns what we have?
f. Scripture’s answer is crystal clear: God owns everything.
g. Biblical truth is Biblical truth.
II. The foundation of ownership and stewardship
a. Everything belongs to God. Psalm 24:1-2
b. Psalm 50:10-12
c. God is not a needy landlord; He is the outright owner.
d. 1 Chronicles 29:11-14 —11
e. Genesis 1:26-28 - Dominion, not ownership.
f. A steward’s job description: manage the owner’s resources according
to the owner’s wishes, for the owner’s purposes, and give an account
when asked.
g. An owner asks “What do I want?”
h. A steward asks “What does the Owner want?”
i. Deuteronomy 8:11-18 - a warning to the people of Israel and to us.

k. God isn’t grading our net worth. He’s grading our faithfulness.
III. Personal implications
a. If God owns it all, then no financial decision is “just my business” —
b. You’re not the one ultimately responsible for making ends meet
c. Giving isn’t loss, it’s simply redirecting what was never fully yours.
d. Look at your bank statement as if you were writing a report to the
Owner.
