Now What?
Hebrews 11, Matthew 28:18-20, John 15:5, Joshua 1:1-9
I. Moses is dead...
a. Joshua 1:1-2
b. A significant place of transition.
c. Moses - a somebody, a nobody and a nobody God would use.
d. Born in Egypt
e. Raised by the Pharoah’s daughter
f. Elevated to highest leadership levels
g. Forced to run for his life after murdering an Egyptian
h. Called to serve God and his people through a burning bush
i. But now...Moses was dead.
j. A significant transition
k. A new day for the people of Israel.
l. A new day for the people of Blue Ridge Chapel.
II. A new day
a. We love our CoB brothers and sisters.
b. We will find ways to continue to fellowship together.
c. We are not better than them.
d. We are not more spiritual.
e. We have come to a fork in the road.
f. We really do read scripture differently.
g. A different set of priorities.
III. No autopilot
a. James Frederick - in the middle of a 7-8 year solo circumnavigation
b. 1000 miles out of Los Angeles his autopilot failed.
c. He improvised and put out a sea anchor
d. As of today we’re not on autopilot either.
e. As of today, our culture, our priorities, our future isn’t dependent on the CoB.
f. As of today...WE are steering the boat.
IV. Three things...
a. We are called to be faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
b. Hebrews 11 - The Faith Hall of Fame...
c. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Esau, Joseph, Moses,
d. Welcome to the gospel big league...where our faithfulness will transform our city, our county, our world.
e. We are also called to be focused - Matthew 28:18-20
f. He has called us to be fruitful - John 15:5
g. Joshua 1:1-9 Strong an courageous
